Answer: Stars in a blockbuster are more likely to draw crowds. Many people are more willing to go see a movie if they recognize the names in it. I watch every movie that has Angelina Jolie in it because I'm a pervert and her lips are amazing. Also from the producers standpoint, a star is a known quantity for acting talent. They can look at what they have done and judge their skill. Are stars the only ones who will provide good performances though? No. Many times an unknown actor will be more receptive to what the director wants and willing to work harder for the chance to be in the blockbuster.
