Concern about the Digicam packaging?

Question: When I went to a local Canon outlet (JJMehta at Dadar to be specific) and asked them that I wanted to purchase S5 IS they produced me a S5 IS box of which the seal was broken and the camera had fingerprints all over the LCD. I asked them that I needed a sealed box. The shopkeeper said that it does not matter whether its sealed or not. I insisted them to bring a sealed one. They did not. Is this proper? Shouldn't the box be sealed when you go for a purchase? I am still to make a purchase. Please advice.

Answer: You are absolutely right. They are trying to get rid of the opened box first. Not a good marketing strategy Any camera in an unsealed box, should be considered a "demo" camera and thus be sold for less ... 15% less would be a good starting point for negotiation or they should give you some extra's, like maybe a 2GB memory card or two. Or they can sell you a camera in a sealed box. This maybe the last camera of this model they have, so you may want to wait until they refresh their stock
